How our Gear Finder reads store prices

Gear Finder compares prices, stock and shipping across ski shops. To do that, our server requests the public product data that shops publish on their own websites (the same data their storefronts load). We identify ourselves with the user agent SkiAvoBot and a link to this page.

What we do

• We read each store's robots.txt first and don't fetch anything it disallows.
• We read product feeds after an explicit search and cache them for about 30 minutes. We also check product stock when you open a store link. Expired feed copies are excluded if refresh fails.
• We don't log in, fill carts, bypass bot protection or read private pages.
• Shipping rules are copied from each store's own shipping page, with a link. If a store doesn't publish them, we say so.
• We don't scrape Facebook or marketplaces that forbid it.
